Overview

Planned Parenthood of Orange and San Bernardino Counties has a part-time opportunity for a Clinician Float Certified Nurse Midwife, Nurse Practitioner, or Physician’s Assistant in San Bernardino, CA.

 

To travel as assigned to the various clinics throughout Orange or San Bernardino Counties providing Clinician coverage to provide quality patient care including exams, treatment, education and counseling for patients in accordance with agency protocols.

Qualifications

Licensure and/or Certification Requirements:

  • Current California clinician’s license and CPR certification required.
  • Furnishing license, as applicable to NP.
  • Board Certification preferred.

 

Minimum Work Experience:

  • Nurse Practitioner, Physician’s Assistant or Certified Nurse Midwife with reproductive/primary care specialty.
  • Women’s managed/primary health care experience preferred.

 

Other Requirements:

  • May assist with and possibly train venipuncture and/or other triaging responsibilities as needed.
  • May assist with ordering, packaging and labeling of drugs.
  • May assist with cleaning and maintenance of technical equipment (i.e. microscopes).
  • If job duties require working abortion services, additional duties to include on call rotation during non-clinical hours.

  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
  • Must demonstrate high level computer skills including; Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Electronic medical records experience may also be required.
  • This position requires travel to other sites and locations; if using a personal vehicle to meet this requirement, a valid CA driver’s license and current auto insurance in compliance with the minimum requirements of CA vehicle code are required.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions: Essential functions encompass the required tasks, duties and responsibilities performed as part of the job and the reason the job exists.

  • Adhere to agency’s policies, procedures and protocols. This may include successfully completing agency, regional and/or state certification requirements.
  • Adhere to affiliate goals and policies on professionalism, wait time in-clinic and on the system for addressing client complaints.
  • Participate in health center efforts to achieve established goals for productivity.
  • Participate in health center/affiliate efforts to achieve established revenue cycle goals.
  • Perform physical and gynecological examinations for female patients including review of medical history, screening for abnormalities, pregnancy, and ordering of laboratory tests.
  • Educate and counsel clients on the provision of medical reproductive health care including, contraceptives, emergency contraception, abortion, and vasectomy options.
  • Provide contraceptives, abortion referrals and abortion services.
  • Perform genito-urinary exams of male patients in relation to testing and treatment of Sexually Transmitted Infections.
  • Document patient data accurately and completely in the medical record.
  • Evaluate and treat medical problems, ensuring follow-up and appropriate referrals as necessary including supervising follow-up procedures for abnormal laboratory results.
  • Dispense prescription medications understanding order.
  • Manage emergency situations as they arise in the center, and consult with Medical Doctor as necessary.
  • If trained, provide prenatal services, IUD, Norplant and Implanon, insertions and removals, and colposcopy and cryotherapy treatment.
  • Once trained, care for abortion (surgical and medical) patients, including ultrasounds and post-operative care.
  • Meet the required productivity goals of the center and attend medical meetings, as required.
  • Orient/train new clinicians and/or clinic assistants.
  • Be available to work On-Call shift to provide patient care up to six (6) days annually.
  • Participate in regularly scheduled peer review process, as required.
  • Assist Patient Services management team with assigned projects.
