Overview

Planned Parenthood of Orange and San Bernardino Counties has a full-time opportunity for a Community Engagement Coordinator in Anaheim, CA.

 

This position requires bilingual proficiency in Vietnamese.

 

To engage with the various communities, we serve and organize efforts to support PPOSBC’s leadership in healthcare, advocacy, and health education. To identify and represent PPOSBC at outreach events and community meetings to create relationships and linkages to community resources in both Orange and San Bernardino Counties. Provide presentations to the community on Planned Parenthood services and various sexual and reproductive health topics that support the Training for Professionals and Parent Education programs.

Minimum Education:

  • College degree or equivalent relevant work experience required.

 

Minimum Work Experience:

  • A minimum of 2-5 years of community organizational event planning or outreach experience.
  • Strong public speaking and active listening skills.
  • The ability to engage community members to provide awareness of our services and programs.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail is essential.
  • Strong PC skills (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet, Canva, Google Forms).
  • Knowledge of and interest in sexual and reproductive health care and rights.
  • Professional demeanor at all times.

 

Language Requirements/Preference:

  • Vietnamese.

  • Strong commitment to quality healthcare and excellent customer service is required.
  • Must thrive in a fast paced, rigorous environment with changing priorities.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
  • Must demonstrate high level computer skills including; Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Electronic medical records experience may also be required.
  • This position requires travel to other sites and locations; if using a personal vehicle to meet this requirement, a valid CA driver’s license and current auto insurance in compliance with the minimum requirements of CA vehicle code are required.
  • Abortion patients are cared for at each of our health centers and in part through the administrative, support, and other non-clinical services provided at all PPOSBC locations and by all PPOSBC employees, and supporting these critical services is an essential job duty and fundamental responsibility of all employees.

 

Responsibilities

Essential Functions: Essential functions encompass the required tasks, duties and responsibilities performed as part of the job and the reason the job exists.

  • Identify, schedule, and staff community outreach opportunities in targeted communities, coalition meetings, and community health fairs.
  • Network with other community-based organizations and college/university campuses to schedule and deliver presentations on Planned Parenthood Services.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings and weekends, to provide education or attend community events.
  • Create an annual calendar of all critical community events at which PPOSBC should be represented.
  • Develop a database of community contacts including community leaders, influencers, and activists who work with targeted communities.
  • Establish collaborative relationships with community members and supporters of our mission.
  • Attend community meetings, business groups etc. at which PPOSBC should be represented. Work with Community Education Manager to provide a link between the community and the organization.
  • Serve as a community liaison to assist in patient recruitment activities, promote health center services, link to community resources and Community Education/WIC outreach.
  • Coordinate all outreach and tabling activities in the community and on school campuses.
    • Represent the organization at public events and participate as needed in advocacy activities.
    • Communicate with other Planned Parenthood entities regarding activities, updates and timely issues, as needed.
  • Conduct and complete grant obligations on a yearly basis, as needed.
  • Provide data analysis and feedback to Community Education Manager and Director of Community Education.
  • Create monthly calendar of events that volunteers can attend and communicate with vetted volunteers to schedule.
  • Schedule and deliver comprehensive, medically-accurate, and unbiased presentations to support the adult programs for parents/caregivers and professionals that work with youth. Topics may include: Youth Rights & Resources, Parent/Child Communication, Human Trafficking, Gender Inclusivity, etc.
  • Engage supportive community partners to collaborate on events that promote our programs and services.

  • Work independently with minimal supervisory direction.
  • Other duties as assigned.
