Overview

Planned Parenthood of Orange and San Bernardino Counties has a full-time opportunity for a Senior Applications Analyst in Anaheim, CA.

 

The primary role of this position is to act as a senior member of the applications team in relation to the development, implementation, and support of the core organization applications. This senior position will use application expertise to engage administrative and clinical staff to help translate operational and application needs into technical solutions by being the main escalation point for application support-related requests. The senior analyst will work to identify and implement information system solutions that support more efficient and effective work performance. This role will be responsible for the advanced administration of clinical and business systems and serve as an educator and senior resource regarding system functionality. Identify opportunities and contribute to the improvement of quality, safety, and cost, as well as patient, customer, and employee satisfaction. Serve as the main escalation resource for performing security assessments and regular system maintenance tasks on clinical and business applications, instruments, and other related technologies. It will be key in supporting enhancement projects as well as promoting a high level of service, knowledge, and skill among the rest of the application support team through the sharing of information and documentation of problem resolution.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field required; However, four additional years of directly relevant experience or equivalent combination may be considered. 

Minimum Work Experience:

  • A minimum of 4 years’ experience is required in developing and delivering business computer applications.
  • Experience implementing, upgrading and configuring systems required.
  • Four (4) or more years’ experience in healthcare, ambulatory care setting is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of business processes and process redesign.
  • Proven experience and working knowledge of Electronic Medical Record & Practice Management systems is a plus.
  • Experience and knowledge of supporting and managing enterprise level software solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of security, system and software best practices and methodologies.
  • Strong project management skills or substantial exposure to project-based work structures, etc.
  • Able to research application performance, development issues and enterprise projects.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Able to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language.
  • Self-motivated and directed.
  • Strong attention to detail.

  • This position requires travel to other sites and locations; if using a personal vehicle to meet this requirement, a valid CA driver’s license and current auto insurance in compliance with the minimum requirements of CA vehicle code are required.

Abortion patients are cared for at each of our health centers and in part through the administrative, support, and other non-clinical services provided at all PPOSBC locations and by all PPOSBC employees, and supporting these critical services is an essential job duty and fundamental responsibility of all employees, including the Senior Applications Analyst.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions: Essential functions encompass the required tasks, duties, and responsibilities performed as part of the job and the reason the job exists.

 

Leadership:

  • Coordinate team efforts, including assignment of tickets, and leading meetings, in absence of Applications Manager.
  • Serve as senior liaison with system software and hardware suppliers and vendors; monitor contracted services for quality and compliance.
  • Provide an escalation point and/or ensure follow-up on trouble calls and tickets; correspond with or meet customers and vendors as needed to understand and resolve more complex concerns.

Technology Architecture and Service Delivery:

  • Assist departments in defining requirements for proposed business applications; review, analyze and evaluate business applications and user needs; translate business objectives into application requirements.
  • Drive implementation of the system software, including conversion of data to new systems; work with application support personnel to resolve system problems.
  • Analyze, document, and resolve technology related problems; resolve compatibility problems and troubleshoot system software, hardware and communication problems ensuring high levels of performance.
  • Learn and understand all business applications and systems. Provide end user training to assist with the adoption of new or changed practices, and perform demonstrations of new features as needed.
  • Create, record, and maintain user access and security.
  • Functions as an administrator for assigned organization applications and enterprise solutions.
  • Ensure that implementation and development projects meet business requirements and goals, fulfill end-user requirements, and be an escalation point to resolve applications issues.
  • Availability to work flexible hours including weekends.
  • Document technical issues and escalate within IT.
  • The ability to function at a high level in a team-oriented environment is required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required to communicate effectively to a diverse group of users.
  • Senior level resource for technical issues related to clinical/business applications.
  • On site interaction and remote phone support with end users to diagnose application problems.
  • Participate in on call support to provide weekend coverage for Health Centers personnel.
  • Support projects and enhancements by assisting with project tasks as assigned, after-hours build-outs leading up to changes, and completion of QA & testing checklist.
  • Coordinate and provide senior level support and maintenance of ultrasound devices, service calls.
  • Maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgement.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of standard business processes, software and equipment.
  • Review and analyze existing application effectiveness and efficiency to develop strategies for improving or leveraging these systems.
  • Exposure to infrastructure and system architecture and basic network processes. The senior analyst will function as a contributing lead liaison between teams within the department.
  • Works directly with business partners to develop enhanced application solutions to improve workflow and potentially promote integration and automation opportunities.
  • Functions as the lead analyst in the planning, design and implementation rollout of major software upgrades. As part of the upgrade planning the analyst will coordinate testing efforts with appropriate organization resources.

Security:

  • Conduct security analysis; business analysis; evaluate business processes; determine business needs; identify requirements; and develop business plan analysis in accordance to industry best practices.
  • Understand software and system security processes, protocols and practices.
  • Conduct vendor security risk assessments as part of new vendor onboarding process.
  • Perform annual vendor security evaluations for all existing technology vendors.
  • Design, develop, and implement secure business software applications.

Data Management:

  • Works directly with business partners, systems, development, and analytics teams to support application data storage, management, and integrity within the organization’s enterprise solutions.
