Overview

Planned Parenthood of Orange and San Bernardino Counties has an exciting opportunity for a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) in San Bernardino, CA!

 

*This is an independent contractor opportunity. Thursday, Friday, Saturday availability highly desired.

 

The CRNA will administer analgesia / anesthesia for purpose of pain relief by oral or injectable routes or render patients unconscious for surgical procedures by intravenous injected into the vein.  CRNA closely monitors the patient’s response by monitoring temperature, pulse, heart rate, respiratory rate, and symptoms of distress until the patient has recovered from the anesthesia and is stable for discharge.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in nursing and has a current California Registered Nurse license
  • Current California Nurse Anesthetist license
  • Minimum 1–2 yrs work experience as a CRNA

  • Must demonstrate high level computer skills including; Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Electronic medical records experience may also be required.
  • This position requires travel to other sites and locations; if using a personal vehicle to meet this requirement, a valid CA driver’s license and current auto insurance in compliance with the minimum requirements of CA vehicle code are required.
  • Abortion patients are cared for at each of our health centers and in part through the administrative, support, and other non-clinical services provided at all PPOSBC locations and by all PPOSBC employees, and supporting these critical services is an essential job duty and fundamental responsibility of all employees.

Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   1. Adhere to agency’s policies, procedures and protocols.  This may include successfully completing agency, regional and/or state certification requirements.
  2. Assess the patient’s medical history and how it might affect the patient’s response to anesthesia
  3. Assess the patient’s pain management needs prior to surgical procedure
  4. Decide which drugs and techniques best fit the patient’s needs
  5. Educate the patient about the process to be used
  6. Placement and management of IV catheter
  7. Connect patients to the EKG monitor prior to procedure
  8. Give oral, injectable analgesia or conscious sedation
  9. Monitor the patient’s response during and after anesthesia
  10. Initiate emergency measures as needed if the patient experiences complications to anesthesia
  11. Keep detailed records of the medications given and the patient’s response
  12. Assist in the resuscitation of patients, as necessary
  13. Assist patients to recovery room after procedure and monitor their status until discharge
  14. Expand knowledge about new drugs and anesthesia techniques as they become available
