    Responsibilities

    • Implement PPOSBC assigned program(s) including the development and maintenance of relationships with collaborative partners through outreach in community based organizations, schools, and other venues.
    • Knowledge of and ability to assist in and/or raise awareness about the Community Education Programs and Planned Parenthood services in general. Perform health education duties for target populations served through the assigned program(s).
    • Conduct scheduled presentations and/or facilitate workshops as assigned.
    • Remain current on pregnancy prevention, STI, and HIV research/information; design, implement, and evaluate intervention program, ensuring that program information is accurate and updated with most recent public health information.
    • Ensure compliance with contracts by documenting all aspects of assigned programs and collecting statistical information for grant reporting; preparation of required reports.
    • Work with department manager to identify program opportunities and areas of improvement.
    • Act as liaison between Planned Parenthood and professional organizations/agencies to ensure maximum involvement with community projects.
    • Other duties as assigned

     

     

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Health Education preferred, or a combination of education and experience in related field 2-3 years preferred; or training & experience in human sexuality education, STD/HIV prevention, healthcare setting (client contact), peer (teen or young adult) sexuality education, or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Experience with public speaking/facilitating trainings to groups, 2 years preferred
    • Possession of Essential Access Health’s Family Planning Health Worker certification or ability to acquire certification within the first three months of employment
    • Advanced knowledge of reproductive health issues, birth control methods, sexually transmitted infections, HIV/AIDS, safer sex practices and communication/negotiation skills
    • History of effectively working with adolescents in a group based environment
    • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, along with attention to detail is essential
    • Ability to relate and communicate with diverse communities
    • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and professional demeanor at all times
    • Ability to travel and work flexible hours, which may include evenings & weekends
    • This position requires an employee to have a valid CA driver’s license, a reliable means of transportation, and to carry current auto insurance in compliance with the minimum requirements of the California Vehicle Code
