Responsibilities

Assist in certifying WIC clients by obtaining and accurately recording height and weight measurements, dietary intakes, and other necessary medical and/or nutritional information.

Compare laboratory test results, anthropometric measures and/or dietary intakes to establish standards to screen for nutrition risk.

Identify clients with special nutritional needs and referring them to the R.D./Nutritionist for nutrition counseling and development of Nutritional Care Plan.

Provide basic health, nutrition and breastfeeding information to individual clients and client groups.

Document services provided to WIC clients by maintaining accurate client and program needs.

Explain program eligibility requirements and clients’ rights and obligations.

Inform clients about the benefits and services of the WIC program.

Instruct clients on prescribed food packages and voucher/food instruments issuance and cashing procedures.

Conduct group classes and other nutrition education activities as requested by the Center Manager/ Assistant Manager.

Assist in developing and evaluating nutrition education materials.Participate in community outreach efforts as assigned by the Center Manager

Attend staff and in-service training sessions. Attend assigned conferences and trainings.

Integrate referrals between WIC and Family Planning, Prenatal and CHDP services.

Assist the supervisor in training new staff.

Manage the flow of the clinic in absence of Center/Assistant manager.

Provide daily food instrument reports.

Keep inventory of WIC materials and office supplies.

Report all WIC related issues to supervisor.

Keep open lines of communication with supervisor at all times.

Perform other duties as may be assigned by Center Manager. 

 

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED and a minimum of 1,000 hrs WIC experience or BA Degree in nutrition or related field and 500 hours

WIC experience.
