Responsibilities

 

 

  • Oversee the development and maintenance of internal audit tools based on applicable regulatory and internal audit protocols. Update internal audit tools at least annually to reflect changes to audit protocols.
  • Serve as a focal coordinator for both internal and external audits processes.
  • Manage the development, maintenance and training for agency policies and procedures.
  • Manage the development, maintenance and implementation of the agency enterprise compliance, risk and quality work plan and audit schedules.
  • Manage the development of agency internal and external audit activities to ensure robust oversight and monitoring of compliance and risk issues for business areas.
  • Assist with oversight of corrective action plans (CAPs) for business areas stemming from ongoing compliance monitoring, risk mitigation analyses, and internal/external audit activities.
  • Assist in preparation of audit, compliance, risk and quality updates for Board committees and Board meetings.
  • Participate in and assist in managing the preparation of enterprise audits processes, AMD enterprise compliance, risk and quality Committee meetings, and corresponding audit reports.
  • Participate in workgroups that address both clinical and non-clinical internal activities to meet any regulatory, contractual, internal or other requirements. Focal external regulatory bodies include the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS), the California Department of Health Services (CDPH), federal Office of Civil Rights (OCR), and DHHA (federal department of health and human services).
  • Manage logistical oversight of department administered trainings as well as assist other departments with compliance and risk based trainings.
  • Maintains current clinic licenses manage process of licensing and permitting for any new or expanding sites and assist with other agency licenses or licensing needs/processes.
  • Manage audit, reporting and logistical oversight of agency programs promoting optimum privacy and security of HIPAA/Protected Health Information (PHI) and Protected Individually Identifiable Information (PII).
  • Manage department staff and programs for compliant release of records processes.
  • Assist in maintenance of robust and quality-centered agency audit, compliance and risk programs.
  • Assist to manage and monitor the agency insurance portfolio.
  • Hire, manage, and develop department staff as delegated.  
  • Other projects and duties as assigned.

 

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in a related field including but not limited to healthcare administration, law, justice, or combination of Bachelor’s degree in healthcare with added work experience in the described regulatory, audit, compliance and risk areas.

  • 3+ years of experience with healthcare compliance, risk management and quality management required.
  • Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience preferred
  • Compliance Certification like CPCO or CPCS strongly preferred.
